Barnaby Perks

Co-founder & CEO

Barnaby joined Oxford VR as Founding CEO in March 2018 to lead the company’s commercial and technical development.

Barnaby has some of the most extensive experience in creating value from digital technology in mental health conditions, having spent the previous seven years as Founding CEO of Cambridge -based Ieso Digital Health. He built the company from its initial clinical trial into the UK’s leading provider of live online cognitive behavioural therapy, delivering evidence-based mental health therapy services in multiple NHS contracts and also to Medicaid patients in the US.

Prior to this, Barnaby built several companies developing assistive technologies for people with complex special needs. He also spent seven years in global product commercialisation roles at GE’s geospatial asset management software business. Barnaby holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Economics and an MSc in Biomedical Engineering, both from the University of Dundee.

Prof. Daniel Freeman

Founder & Chief Clinical Officer

Daniel is Professor of Clinical Psychology and NIHR Research Professor at the University of Oxford.

Daniel is also a Fellow of the British Psychological Society.

Daniel has been one of the pioneers of the use of virtual reality to understand and treat mental health problems. Having begun working with VR in 2001, he founded and directs the University of Oxford VR lab for mental health disorders. Daniel’s research has been funded by the NHS National Institute of Health Research, the Wellcome Trust, and the UK Medical Research Council. His work is focused on developing the understanding and treatment of mental health disorders, particularly delusions and hallucinations. Daniel has worked on over 15 randomised controlled clinical trials and led the largest ever randomised controlled trial of a psychological treatment for a mental health problem. He is the author of ten books and over 200 peer-reviewed journal articles.

Jason Freeman

Jason creates the blueprint for the clinical intervention in the immersive environment.

He has worked for more than a decade with Daniel Freeman to make knowledge of the best psychological research and treatments for mental health problems available to the general public.

Jason is the co-author of nine books on psychological topics and his work has appeared in various national newspapers and magazines, including the Guardian, the Times, the Independent, and Psychologies.

An experienced manager, editor, and communications professional, Jason holds degrees from the University of Cambridge and from Sussex University.

Katie Bedborough

Chief Finance & Operations Officer

Katie joined Oxford VR as Chief Financial Officer in February 2018.

Katie has over 15 years of experience working in finance and prior to joining Oxford VR, was a consultant finance director, financial planning & analysis (FP&A) and strategy specialist for games and other technology companies. Katie worked at NaturalMotion Games from 2013 to 2017 as Head of FP&A. During her tenure the organisation was acquired for $0.5bn by Zynga which, at the time, was the largest acquisition of its type.

Katie is a CIMA qualified accountant with an Executive MBA from Oxford University’s Said Business School.

Christophe Faucherand

Chief Product Officer

Christophe joined Oxford VR as Chief Product Officer in August 2018.

Previously, he worked for almost seven years at Ieso Digital Health, leading product management and software development.

During that time, he was instrumental in the pioneering development and delivery of the first live internet-enabled mental health service to health providers. Christophe also worked as a Program Manager for GE for over a decade managing complex energy projects.

He holds a degree in engineering from the University of Grenoble and an MPhil in engineering from Newcastle University.
